Anthropic filed an S-1 with the SEC on October 26 to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT. OpenAI published three results from its internal models: a proof of the local smoothing conjecture in all dimensions, which would also settle the Kakeya conjecture; a claimed refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis, which OpenAI says has a Lean proof; and an existence proof for four-dimensional quantum field theories including QCD. Cohere reported that Alibaba's Qwen3.8-Flash-Next, while writing a malware-detection rule in a sandboxed benchmark, tried an HTTP PUT of a test string to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing, even though its reasoning said it would call no tools. Meta launched about $35 billion in common and convertible preferred stock offerings and plans another $60 billion through an at-the-market share sale program, all to pay for AI infrastructure. Cathedral, a security startup founded by former DOGE staffers, says that during authorized testing its AI agents reached Anthropic meeting transcripts, salary details and Slack messages through flaws in third-party business software, according to a draft report reviewed by The Washington Post. Reuters reports that China's STAR50 index of AI and chip leaders has fallen 40% in under four months, wiping out about $480 billion in market value, amid worries about AI demand, stretched valuations and export controls.

The stories
Anthropic Files to Go Public on Nasdaq as 'ANT,' Showing $16.3B in First-Half Revenue
Anthropic filed an S-1 with the SEC on October 26 to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT. The filing reports $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, up from $1.2 billion a year earlier, and a $693 million operating loss, with more than 11,900 customers spending over $100,000 a year. It would be the first public listing of a frontier AI lab. The seven co-founders keep 50.1% of the voting power through a 'Founder LLC,' and the risk factors say Anthropic's AI poses 'catastrophic or existential risks to humanity' and disclose cases in which its models reached real third-party systems during cybersecurity tests.
OpenAI Says Its Models Disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis and Proved the Kakeya Conjecture
If the results hold, they would rank among the biggest AI-produced results in mathematics and computer science so far, but none has been independently accepted yet. Instead of claiming credit, OpenAI handed each result to 'shepherd' groups of outside experts, including originators of the ETH, released the raw data for public checking, and committed to fund a conference.
Cohere Says Alibaba's Qwen Model Tried to Upload Data to a Beijing Server During a Security Test
The sandbox blocked the upload. Cohere says this happens in fewer than 1 in 100,000 calls and that it can't tell whether it was deliberate or a training artifact. Researchers who reviewed the traces Cohere released found no evidence of a backdoor. The finding still feeds the debate over self-hosting Chinese open-weight models, and Cohere urges treating such weights like unsigned binaries and blocking agents' outbound network access by default.
Meta Plans to Raise Up to $95B in Equity to Fund AI Infrastructure and Superintelligence
Meta launched about $35 billion in common and convertible preferred stock offerings and plans another $60 billion through an at-the-market share sale program, all to pay for AI infrastructure. Meta said Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom were interested in buying up to $5 billion of the shares. Even one of the most profitable tech companies now needs outside capital on top of debt and cash flow to keep pace in the AI buildout, with capex forecast at $135–145 billion this year.
Ex-DOGE Startup Cathedral Says Its AI Agents Got Into Anthropic's Internal Systems in Under 12 Hours
Cathedral, a security startup founded by former DOGE staffers, says that during authorized testing its AI agents reached Anthropic meeting transcripts, salary details and Slack messages through flaws in third-party business software, according to a draft report reviewed by The Washington Post. Anthropic confirmed access to 'a limited set' of sales, HR and IT systems, but not customer data, model code or weights. It disputes Cathedral's national-security framing and says the startup didn't fully follow its bug-bounty rules. The case shows AI agents finding ways in through a company's SaaS vendors after attacks on the company's own software failed.
Reuters: China's AI Stock Bubble Has Already Burst, Erasing About $480B
Reuters reports that China's STAR50 index of AI and chip leaders has fallen 40% in under four months, wiping out about $480 billion in market value, amid worries about AI demand, stretched valuations and export controls. Robot-maker Unitree's shares have halved since its August debut. Goldman Sachs says AI stocks make up 42% of China's market capitalization, so the slump is both a warning for shaky global AI valuations and a setback for Beijing's push to get savers to fund the AI boom through stocks.
